Hopwood: ‘The Sound of Music’ features family ties, secret smiles
Delano Dramatic Company’s production of “The Sound of Music” opened last weekend to a standing ovation at the Delano Performing Arts Center. Anyone who’s seen the musical knows it has a large cast, and the Delano production is no exception. As a member of the show’s ensemble, I dance during the party scene and later turn into a soldier. My only line is shouted from behind the stage, “Look there!”
Delano student crowned national storytelling champ
Oliver Berg, a student at Delano High School, has been crowned the National Middle School Storytelling Champion by the National Speech & Debate Association. The seventh-grader won the June 21 competition in Des Moines with his performance of the Japanese folktale “The Jellyfish and the Monkey,” Head Speech Coach Barb Shofner said. The story explores the moral complexity of knowing the right thing and actually doing it.

Capturing Cokato exhibit is now open at The Cokato Museum
The Capturing Cokato exhibit at the Cokato Museum opened July 1 and showcases the legacy of the Gust Akerlund Photography Studio.
