Delano student crowned national storytelling champ
Oliver Berg, a student at Delano High School, has been crowned the National Middle School Storytelling Champion by the National Speech & Debate Association. The seventh-grader won the June 21 competition in Des Moines with his performance of the Japanese folktale “The Jellyfish and the Monkey,” Head Speech Coach Barb Shofner said. The story explores the moral complexity of knowing the right thing and actually doing it.
Delano City Council adopts code of conduct
The Delano City Council voted Tuesday to adopt a code of conduct for elected and appointed city officials. Those officials are required to follow all applicable laws and regulations, according to the document. Respectful behavior towards council members, staff, and boards/commissions is also expected.
