New Glarus teacher honored nationally by AAA

NEW GLARUS, Wis. -- Representatives from the American Automobile Association recognized fifth grade elementary school teacher Sally Nealis as the 2024 AAA School Safety Patrol Advisor of the Year.

Nealis, who is retiring this year from New Glarus Elementary School, was responsible for recruiting, training, and supervising student patrollers at the school. The school's principal, Laura Eicher, said Thursday that Nealis had been nominated for her outstanding leadership skills, and dedication to safety and safety education.

The AAA School Safety Patrol now includes more than 600,000 patrollers nationwide. Nealis served as New Glarus Elementary School's Safety Patrol Advisor for the past 18 years.
