Sheetz aims to hire 60 workers for its first two area locations
Sheetz, a major family-owned restaurant and convenience store chain, plans to hire 60 workers to staff its first two Toledo-area stores and will host a two-day hiring fair to select its staff. The hiring event will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Holiday Inn at 1705 Tollgate Dr., Maumee. Prospective employees can RSVP ahead of the event through this link. Delphos Jefferson Football Team Expands Training to Maumee River
Friday, July 26 the Delphos Jefferson 2024 Football Team took off in canoes from the Antwerp Riverside Veteran’s Memorial Park Boat Launch. The canoes were provided by Upper Maumee Canoe & Kayak. Louis Beregszazi was contacted by the Delphos Jefferson Football coach Allan Pohlman to confirm this was an acceptable venture for the team to do as a team bonding experience. Beregszazi said he has had boy scouts, and other groups, but never a high school team that wanted to take to the water. He now realizes what good upper body training this would be to kayak for two hours and get these young men out in nature at the same time. There were 33 individuals all together including the team and staff and others.

Riley Keller was destined for football greatness. As a freshman, he completed 95 of 190 passes for 1,892 yards and 21 touchdowns with nine interceptions, leading Whitmer to an 8-3 record and a playoff berth. It was a remarkable debut for a 14-year-old quarterback in fertile recruiting territory, enough that Mississippi offered Keller before his sophomore season. Additional power conference offers came from West Virginia and Iowa State. Keller was named first-team All-Ohio in 2017. At his height, he was the third-ranked QB in Ohio. But an elbow injury during his junior year derailed what felt like an inevitable competitive recruiting shootout.
