'I bring a lot of intensity and passion': John Nestor hoping to hold down starting cornerback spot
IOWA CITY, Iowa-- John Nestor took people by surprise when he was listed as the starting cornerback heading into fall camp. Iowa is looking to replace one of the best players in the Kirk Ferentz era, Cooper DeJean, and Nestor is taking the challenge head on. The Illinois native is currently competing against TJ Hall and Deshaun Lee to hold down the opposite corner of Jermari Harris.
Black Hawk County Sheriff Tony Thompson to speak at KMAland libraries
(KMAland) -- KMAland residents can learn more about the crossover between mental health treatment and law enforcement in Iowa this week. That's because Author and Black Hawk County Sheriff Tony Thompson is appearing at multiple southwest Iowa libraries this week, discussing his new book, "Anyplace But Here: The Uncomfortable Convergence Between Mental Illness and the Criminal Justice System." Thompson will be at the Red Oak and Clarinda libraries on Wednesday and at the Tabor and Shenandoah libraries on Thursday. Thompson says his inspiration for the book came from his frustration with the state's mental health treatment program and the hope to reform it.
UNI yard sign giveaway set for Aug. 27 at Scheels
