NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A 20-year-old member of a New Haven gang will spend 168 months in federal prison for his involvement in a string of violence, according to an announcement Thursday from the U.S. Department of Justice.

Devin Suggs, also known as “JB,” faced up to 20 years in prison for a racketeering charge.

He’s accused of being part of the Exit 8 gang, which stole vehicles, shared guns, dealt drugs and were involved in shootings that killed three people and attempted to kill another 16.

Suggs has admitted to taking part in five shootings that took part from April 2021 to January 2023, in which five people were injured. One of those was shot in the head during a drive-by.
