    Familiar face, new place: Appleton takes over at New Haven

    NEW HAVEN, Ind. (WANE) – After ten seasons as a head coach at Angola High School – the first six as the girls head basketball coach, the last four leading the boys program – Highlight Zone regular Brandon Appleton will be back on the sideline this upcoming season as the new coach of the New Haven boys program.

    Appleton was hired to the lead the Bulldogs in May , replacing Bruce Stephens who stepped down after ten seasons. The program won 133 games under Stephens, going 7-17 last season.

    Appleton has spent the last four season as the Angola boys coach, going 35-60 including a 8-16 mark this past season. A Peru native & Tri-State grad, Appleton will teach business at New Haven High School.

    The Bulldogs will need replace a number of key players lost to graduation, including Ajani Washington (17. 5 points/6.6 rebounds/5.1 assists), Jeremiah Cottrell (11.0 points/4.7 rebounds), and James Hardy IV (7.6 points, 6.3 rebounds/1.9 assists). Tarvar Baskerville was New Haven’s fourth-leading scorer last season, putting up 5.5 points per game as a freshman.
