Albemarle graduate competes in Olympic trials
ALBEMARLE — Two years ago, Akala Garrett became a world champion track athlete at the age of 17 as she won a pair of gold medals at the World Junior Championships. Over the weekend, the former Albemarle High School state champion — now a first-team All-American and rising sophomore at the University of Texas — achieved her first U.S. Olympic Team Trials appearance in Eugene, OR, as the youngest competitor in the field.

MoCo Life 910 summer football camp
June 26 and 27, a youth football camp called MoCo Life 910 was held at Montgomery Central High School. A total of 75 kids attended over the course of two days and participated in developmental drills for both football and leadership skills. This camp was free and available for ages 8-18. The original time was changed due to the heat, and it took place from 6-8 p.m.
