WWL Talk radio host Newell Normand isn’t holding back when it comes to the latest update on Mayor LaToya Cantrell’s "stalking" controversy and yesterday’s court dismissal, for which she was not present.

Playing the “Mighty Mouse” theme song and dubbing Cantrell the “Mighty Mouse Mayor,” Normand said that she did nothing but waste time and resources trying to make it seem like she was going to “save the day.”

“She wanted to remind everyone that the overall objective was achieved by her wasting the time of the Civil District Court, by wasting the time of a citizen of the city of New Orleans, by impugning the integrity of that individual, by making allegations that did not support the claim that she was making,” Normand said. “But her objective was achieved, bringing the needed attention to the threats and the aggressive behaviors toward the mayor.”

Normand went on to call Cantrell arrogant and audacious for raising the case in the first place and then refusing to show up, saying that she didn’t want to pay the price for her actions.

“In fact, to the contrary, what the court has said is that the conduct complained of in the mayor’s complaint is quite all right. So the mayor’s wrong. She’s misleading you again. Strip the Mighty Mouse costume right off of this joker. And call her out for the coward that she is. That’s what I called her yesterday. Because she’s a coward. She does not want to suffer the consequences of her actions. Nobody gives a damn whether or not the mayor’s dating somebody,” Normand said. “Can she not read the room?”

Normand says it doesn’t make sense why the city has responded to this case when it involves Cantrell, the citizen, not the mayor.

He says that with “no objective,” Cantrell has wasted assets in her claim that she was being stalked.

“Come on, mayor. How stupid do you believe the constituents of your parish, your city, are? You can try and spin this any way you want,” Normand said. “It’s not falling on your side. You were not harassed. You are not stalked. You’re suffering the consequences of your own actions.”
