NFL Insider Suggests Alvin Kamara Could Send Another Blunt Message to Saints

Five-time Pro Bowl running back Alvin Kamara skipped out on the final day of the New Orleans Saints' mandatory minicamp earlier this month for contract-related reasons.

Kamara, who's reportedly still seeking an adjusted deal from the Saints, could send another blunt message to New Orleans by holding out of training camp.

Earlier this week, NFL insider Jeremy Fowler suggested that Kamara not showing up to camp is well within the realm of possibilities.

"Alvin Kamara, who’s got two years left on his contract, he wants a reworked deal,” Fowler said on SportsCenter, via On3 . " They’re going to try to work something out.

"But you know, he didn’t show up for the last day of minicamp, maybe he doesn’t show up for the first day of training camp.”

Kamara, 28, will earn just over $10 million in base salary next season with New Orleans.

For 2025, however, his cap hit is set to skyrocket to roughly $25 million.

Considering Kamara's age, diminished productivity last season and other deals handed out this year, that's a number many in the NFL world believe the Saints simply won't be willing to pay.

For reference, 49ers star running back Christian McCaffrey recently signed a two-year extension with an AAV of $19 million.

Saints rookies are expected to report to training camp on July 16.

Veterans will report one week later on July 23.
