Man shot dead overnight in New Orleans

Cops say a man is dead after gunfire in the 7th Ward.

"The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred in the early hours today (July 12, 2024) in the 2200 block of New Orleans Street," Public Relations Specialist Kaitlin Rust Landry said in a news release.

It happened just after 12:15am.

"Officers responded to a call of a shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male gunshot wound victim on scene. The victim was subsequently declared deceased on scene."

Rust Landry says, "A subject was detained for questioning in this investigation."
