The New Orleans Saints made a splash, adding a new offensive coordinator this offseason. Pete Carmichael Jr. had a long tenure in black and gold, but he got replaced by Klint Kubiak. Kubiak has been an assistant in the NFL since 2016.

Before joining the Saints, Kubiak was the passing game coordinator in 2023. One of the biggest coaches to credit for Brock Purdy's success now resides in New Orleans.

Saints running back Jamaal Williams believes that other teams will have a tall task in stopping the team's offense under Kubiak. He has seen Kubiak's scheme of offense on display previously.

“It’s got me so excited because I already know what type of mentality it is because I’ve seen it from the other side and just being like, ‘What is happening right now?’"

"When I was watching film, I was like 'why have I seen this before?' cause I am on the side watching Raheem Mostert go crazy.... Now that I know that our boy is here, I am so excited. I know what type of mentality it is cause I've seen it."

The numbers back up his beliefs and some other players' confidence in Kubiak. The play-calling lends to some bigger, downfield plays.

49ers led NFL in 30+ yard plays in 2023

The 49ers had 36 explosive plays of that type. The Saints had 22 last season. That's a notable gap.

During his time with San Francisco, they used some of the most pre-snap motion in all of the NFL. The Saints are on the flip side in recent years. Expect a completely new look from New Orleans in 2024. Many fans will be surprised by the differences you'll see throughout the season.

QB Derek Carr has reportedly impressed so far in practice under Kubiak, too. He looks comfortable. The success in explosive plays will start with him.

We will see how this season unfolds offensively for the Saints. The new OC could put a charge into a veteran group that needs it.
