New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell’s former bodyguard is now the subject of yet another investigation, this one focusing on how the private information of a woman the mayor sought a restraining order against wound up in a public court filing.

Officer Jeffrey Vappie is one of four NOPD officers now under a Public Integrity Bureau investigation seeking information about how and why confidential information about Anne Breaud was leaked to Mayor Cantrell. According to our partners at WWL-TV , the other officers under investigation are Sergeant Victor Gant, Vappie’s supervisor; Leslie Gusman, the officer who fielded Cantrell’s complaint against Breaud; and Ryan St. Martin, whose role in the case was not disclosed.

Cantrell sought a restraining order against Breaud after the Metropolitan Crime Commission released photos she took of Cantrell and Vappie dining together at a French Quarter restaurant. That photo showed the mayor and her then bodyguard having dinner on the patio at Tableau in full view of passers-by and of Breaud, whose French Quarter apartment faces the restaurant. Cantrell accused Breaud of stalking her. A judge dismissed Cantrell’s claim and ordered her to pay for Breaud’s court costs and attorney’s fees.

The NOPD hired Transcendent Law Group to handle the PIB investigation into the four officers. An email from the company to Breaud’s attorney, Justin Schmidt, confirmed the investigation.
