The NFL season is unpredictable. Injuries happen. Surprises occur. Breakouts blossom. All in all, you never know what will happen ahead of games being played. That being said, the New Orleans Saints have a manageable 2024 schedule on paper.

The first month will be tough. After that, there are plenty of opportunities for the black and gold to navigate their way to the postseason . When do I think they will be favored by the sports books during the regular season in 2024?

Predicting which games the Saints will be favored in during 2024 NFL season

    • Week 1 (Sep. 8): vs. Panthers, noon (FOX)
    • Week 6 (Oct. 13): vs. Bucs, noon (FOX)
    • Week 7 (Oct. 17): vs. Broncos, 7:15 p.m., Thursday Night Football (Amazon)
    • Week 8 (Oct 27): at Chargers, 3:05 p.m.
      (FOX)
    • Week 9 (Nov. 3): at Panthers, noon (CBS)
    • Week 10 (Nov. 10): vs. Falcons, noon (FOX)
    • Week 14 (Dec. 8): at Giants, noon (FOX)
    • Week 15 (Dec 15): vs. Commanders, noon (FOX)
    • Week 17 (Dec. 29): vs. Raiders, noon (FOX)
    • Week 18 (TBD): at Bucs, TBD

You read that correctly. The Saints could realistically be favored in ten games this season. Does that mean they will win ten games ? Certainly not. They'd need to not slip up a single time (not to mention, lose every game that they are underdogs in).

Regardless, the most noticeable gap is from Week 2 to Week 5.

Those four matchups are not easy.

The Saints face the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles, Atlanta Falcons, and Kansas City Chiefs in that span. I think that New Orleans will probably split their season series with ATL, and that matchup early in the year is in Atlanta.

I can't see New Orleans being favored in any of those games, unless major injuries occur, or the Saints just shockingly come out on fire to start the season. That being said, I think it's possible they are favored in every game for the following month.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers come to town, followed by a game against Sean Payton's Denver Broncos. Denver has one of the worst rosters in the AFC. Week 8 takes the Saints to Los Angeles, and that will be a tough game against Jim Harbaugh's new team, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt as the more talented roster.

Saints should finish strong with weak schedule to end season

The final month or so of the year should be a fun time for New Orleans. They play a couple of teams that finished in the bottom five of the NFL in 2023.

Not to mention, their final game of the year comes against the Bucs in a NFC South clash that could be very important for playoff implications.

All in all, the Saints have a clear path back to the playoffs in 2024. They have to take care of business in games where they will provably get the upper hand from betting odds.
