NFL Analyst Reveals Wild Take On Derek Carr, Dak Prescott

New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr cashed in last offseason, agreeing to a four-year deal after the Las Vegas Raiders released him. Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys is looking to do the same thing this offseason.

Entering the final season of his contract, Dak Prescott has been waiting for an extension offer from the Cowboys. To this point, nothing has come, as he is entering training camp without a contract beyond this season.

That will be one of the biggest storylines to watch in the coming weeks. Will Dallas be able to get deals done with him and his No. 1 receiver, CeeDee Lamb.

A debate has raged on about just how much money Dak Prescott should receive. The baseline for quarterbacks has surpassed $50 million, as the market for them has boomed.

As a borderline top-10 quarterback, Dak Prescott is likely looking for something in the range of what Jared Goff received from the Detroit Lions this offseason. Goff will be making $53 million annually.

Alas, in the opinion of Craig Carton, he isn’t worth that much. He believes that Derek Carr is a better quarterback than the Cowboys signal caller.

Earlier this week, Derek Carr revealed that he had a chance to join the New York Jets last offseason. The timing wasn’t right, so the deal was not consummated.

That got the people on The Carton Show talking, which resulted in Carton sharing his hot take about Derek Carr and Dak Prescott.

I think Derek Carr’s a top 10 quarterback in the league,” Carton said, adding that he would rather have the Saints’ signal caller as his quarterback.

That is something many people would consider a hot take. But, when taking a look at their body of work, it isn’t such an outrageous thing to say that Derek Carr is a top 10 quarterback in the NFL over Dak Prescott.

Carr has had to work with a lot less throughout his career than Prescott has. The Raiders failed to consistently put a competitive group around him, while the Cowboys have provided Prescott with an elite supporting cast at times during his career.

A strong argument can be made that the Dallas NFC Championship Game drought would not exist if Derek Carr had been their quarterback the last for the last eight seasons.
