It's not often that an NFL team has a rollercoaster of a day during late July. For the New Orleans Saints, that's been the case on this Tuesday.

Firstly, star running back Alvin Kamara reported to training camp. That's a plus, right? On the surface, that felt like a positive regarding his contract holdout that began during minicamp.

The star running back wants a reworked deal with more guaranteed money for this year, according to reports, but the two sides have not come to an agreement quite yet. A recent social media post from Kamara gives fans some hope last week as far as a new contract goes.

Now, his choice to report to camp seems like a bit of a formality. That's the most intelligent inference to draw after his most recent post on his Instagram story.

Alvin Kamara posts picture with Marshawn Lynch after training camp report

Why does it matter that he posted a photo with Lynch?

The former NFL running back and football icon is known for a statement he made during his career, "I'm just here, so I won't get fined."

It feels like that's the notion that Kamara wants to send to the public after the news of his return to the team for training camp. He clearly wants it to be known that he's there to avoid the substantial fines that come with failing to report to the team for training camp.

He's in the building, but Kamara is still unhappy with his contract situation with the Saints. The two sides will need to work out a deal in order to get the best of Kamara on the field when the season starts.

The clock is ticking, and we will see what New Orleans decides to do - or how long Kamara is willing to push this in order to get what he is looking for from the team.

Regardless, both sides must find a happy medium in order for the Saints offense to be at full strength in 2024.
