Spencer Rattler may have his work cut out for him in the New Orleans Saints' quarterback battle, but the rookie got off to a good start in his bid for a spot on the depth chart.

The former South Carolina quarterback is expected to compete with 2023 draft pick Jake Haener for the backup job behind Derek Carr in New Orleans, but was hit with some early struggles through the team's spring practices.

Rattler is now hitting his stride with the start of Saints training camp, earning some praise from breakout wide receiver Chris Olave.

"Rattler's arm talent is off the charts," Olave said .

Olave took note of the hype surrounding Rattler coming out of college, even though the quarterback fell to the fifth round.

"This was one of the biggest praises of Rattler coming out of college, having been rated highly by scouts even as a high school recruit," Olave added. "It’s also a reason Saints fans are excited about his potential."
