Saints training camp reveals wild plans for Taysom Hill in Klint Kubiak offense

The New Orleans Saints, almost impressively, have even bigger plans for Taysom Hill in 2024.

That much was apparent when the Saints added new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak and the 33-year-old Hill suddenly started getting looks at fullback in OTAs after bouncing from tight end to quarterback on the depth chart in recent years.

Fast forward to training camp, the Saints want to play Hill at five different spots—fullback, running back, quarterback, tight end and wide receiver. ESPN’s Dan Graziano and Jeremy Fowler provided the report after visiting Saints training camp:

They'd like to get him some traditional tailback/fullback work, for example (he typically takes direct snaps as a runner). They know he can line up wide and believe there could be untapped potential there. But the coaches are creating a vision for him and believe he has more to give.

Notably, the report says Kubiak’s offense wants to “play faster and simplify things.”

That doesn’t apply to Hill, it seems. Which doesn’t mean it can’t work well, either. He ran for 401 yards and four scores while averaging five yards per carry last year and caught two scores while averaging nearly nine yards per catch.

Either way, it will be interesting to see what the Saints cook up for Hill, considering he might be the team’s best backup quarterback behind Derek Carr, too. Otherwise, it’s just Spencer Rattler and Jake Haener.
