The New Orleans Saints have plenty of position battles going down right now. Training camp is only the beginning of those. The preseason will be even more chances for them to showcase their talent and value to the Saints roster for 2024.

3 Saints players with most to gain during 2024 NFL preseason

    Dallin Holker

The hype train continues for the tight end. The udnrafted rookie has impressed during training camp so far, and with Juwan Johnson missing a fair amount of practice so far due to his injury, the door is open.

Holker has a chance to lock down a roster spot with a big preseason push. He's even taken some first-team reps in practice so far, too. Keep an eye on the young TE.

    Jamaal Williams

With Kendre Miller sidelined with another injury , Williams' role has increased behind Alvin Kamara at practice. Williams was set to compete for the main backup job behind the star RB, but now, it seems clear that he will open the preseason as the top option for that depth role.

Miller simply has not been available enough to compete yet. Regardless, Williams needs to prove his red zone value during the preseason, possibly alongside Taysom Hill, to show his true value for New Orleans in 2024 .

    Chase Young

Young has been one of the best overall players of camp for the Saints. He looks healthy and explosive as he returns from a neck procedure this offseason. The Saints were comfortable with adding him, and it seems to be paying off.

If Young can stay healthy and show his effectiveness in the exhibition games, I'd expect him to start opposite of Carl Granderson in Week 1. Cameron Jordan has been taking reps on the inside and outside, and some other edge options are dealing with injury.

Young's opportunity to prove himself as a key piece to the defense will come to light in this next month. He must take advantage.
