NFL analyst urges Saints to trade long-time running back

The New Orleans Saints and long-time running back Alvin Kamara have seemingly reached an impasse in Kamara’s contract situation. Kamara, once one of the best running backs in the NFL, wants to be paid as one of the best running backs in the league and get a large contract extension – ostensibly to finish his career with the Saints .

The Saints; however, have been hesitant to meet Kamara’s demands. Despite once being one of the best dual-threat running backs in the league, Kamara’s production has seen a significant dip in the past two seasons. Couple that with the fact that Kamara is reaching the “age 30 cliff” and the team has signed running back Jamaal Williams and drafted Kendre Miller, and it seems like the two sides aren’t going to come to an agreement.

That’s why one NFL analyst believes the Saints should cut their losses now and get something in return for the once perennial Pro Bowl running back. Anthony DiBona of Pro Football Network recently identified one trade candidate from each team , and for the Saints the obvious choice is Kamara. The team is already positioned to handle life after Kamara, and trading him now would give them something in return for a player who, in the right situation, still could have a lot to offer someone.

It would be an unceremonious end to the career of a player who was a major contributor to the Saints for a large chunk of time. Unfortunately, that’s life in the NFL .
