AP and South Hardin summer teams split Wednesday
The Aplington-Parkersburg and South Hardin summer sports teams split Wednesday. The Tigers won the softball game 10-4 and the Falcons won the baseball game 11-6. In the softball game, the Tigers scored in each of the first four innings for a 5-0 lead. But the Falcons answered on a Jordan Trueblood RBI in the bottom of the fourth to cut the deficit to four. After two scoreless innings, South Hardin scored five in the seventh. Kaitlynn Dickes, Lexie Tidman and Taya Hollingsworth each drove in runs. The Tigers also scored on a passed ball and an error. In the bottom of the seventh, Aubrey Williamson, Julia Mostek and Sophia Junker each drove in runs, but the rally ended short. Falcon coach Emily Williamson.

The Grundy Center softball team fell 11-4 at home Thursday to #12 (3A) West Marshall. The Trojans scored twice in the first, but the Spartans tied it a 2-2 in the bottom of the first. Five scoreless innings followed for Grundy Center, while West Marshall scored three in the second, five in the sixth and one in the seventh. The Spartans followed with two runs in the seventh. Carlie Willis had two hits. Maddy Hendershot pitched 5.2 innings with three strikeouts, eight walks, one hit batter and nine hits. Grundy Center (10-15) will be at Aplington-Parkersburg Friday at 5:00 p.m.
WM wins HOIAC title at 14-0 with win vs. Rams
A 12-0 Heart of Iowa Activities Conference baseball victory for West Marshall in State Center vs. Greene County Thursday night in make up action lifted the Trojans to an undefeated conference season at 14-0. Overall, WM has won 24 straight games, is 33-1, and they are the top ranked team in Class 2A. The Rams fell to 1-17 and they finish 1-13 in the league for last place.

IFA baseball (4-14, 3-9 NCC) has lost four straight following a 16-4 loss at Webster City in four innings on Wednesday. Kyler Patton, Brooks Hickman and Tate Ziesman each drove in a run. Combined No-Hitter Powers PCM Softball Past BCLUW
A combined no-hitter helped power the #8 ranked PCM softball team past BCLUW at home Thursday night. The Mustangs saw a lights out performance on the mound from Libby Winters who threw three innings and Camden Webb who threw four to complete the no-hitter. The game was tied 0-0 in the bottom of the sixth when Lark Drake drew a walk and Tori Lindsay hit a double to put two runners on for PCM. It was starting pitcher Libby Winters who had the late game heroics offensively for the Mustangs as she hit a single up the middle to score Drake and Lindsay to score two runs which would be enough to secure the win.
