NORTH MAHASKA'S SEASON ENDS IN DISTRICT FINAL
SULLY – North Mahaska and Lynnville-Sully manage to pair themselves in a Class 1A district baseball final nearly every season. Saturday’s clash was another good battle with Lynnville-Sully winning 3-0. The Hawks (25-3) will meet Ankeny Christian in Pella on Tuesday for a spot in the state tournament.
Central receives men’s basketball academic honors
PELLA—For the third consecutive year, the Central College’s men’s basketball team has received the National Association of Basketball Coaches Team Academic Excellence Award while four Dutch players were tabbed for the NABC Honors Court. Pella Christian Softball Returns Eight Starters Next Summer
The Pella Christian softball team saw their season come to a close last week, but a majority of the Eagles roster will return next summer with their sights set on future success in the years to come. The Eagles graduate starting centerfielder Claire Braafhart, but will return fourteen girls that started at least one varsity contest this season. Of the returning fourteen girls, ten made starts in at least ten games this summer and another five started twenty games. Overall, the Eagles softball team will bring back three juniors, nine sophomores, eight freshmen, and three eighth graders. Among the returners, Pella Christian will retain their entire starting infield, both pitchers who started games this season, and both corner outfield positions. The Eagles finished the season with a 1-24 overall record and an 0-18 Little Hawkeye Conference mark.
Norwalk needs fourth win over Pella to clinch third consecutive State Softball trip
The Norwalk softball team seeks a third consecutive trip to the state tournament tonight, hosting conference rival Pella in the Class 4A, Region 6 championship game at 7:00 p.m. The third-ranked Warriors enter the contest with a 28-7 record following Saturday’s 7-0 semifinal win over Ballard. The Dutch, who knocked off No. 11 Bondurant-Farrar 3-2 in the semis, have won five straight games to improve to 22-11.
Dutch Softball Aiming to Solve Ranked Warriors Tonight in Regional Finals
If there’s one team in their field of opponents Pella has been unable to figure out on the softball diamond, it’s No. 3 ranked Norwalk. Tonight, the Dutch will try to piece together that puzzle in the Class 4A regional final with a state tournament bid on the line. Pella has lost all three matchups with the Little Hawkeye Conference co-champions by a combined score of 35-1 this summer. The Dutch needed late-game heroics to knock off No. 12 Bondurant-Farrar Saturday, while the Warriors cruised to the regional final with a 7-0 victory over Ballard.
