Sinkhole opens in central Iowa town, forcing officials to block off street
DAYTON, Iowa — A sinkhole has closed a portion of 1st Avenue Southwest in Dayton. The city says it's between 8th and 9th streets. Barricades are up and the city is asking people to stay away from that area. It is unclear how big the sinkhole is or what caused it.

Sunday was Free Pool Day in Marshalltown
On Sunday the Marshalltown Aquatic Center held a Free Open Swim Day all paid for by Marty Mitchell Funeral Home. This is something Marty Mitchell has done for many year since the tragic drowning of the 4 individuals in the Iowa River. Mitchell pays for the attendance of everyone 1 day per summer, and this year nearly 800 people showed up to the pool.

Four Ankeny softball players and three from Ankeny Centennial have been named to the academic all-state team by the Iowa Girls’ Coaches Association.
