Saturday Night Live has kind of become like The Simpsons, or even Survivor. Every time it's own TV, I can't help but think to myself, "wow, that show is still on?" It wouldn't be if it didn't have a devoted legion of fans who faithfully tune in each and every week. SNL is presently in its 49th season, and recently welcomed its first "gen Z" castmember in Marcello Hernandez.
UPDATED SOUTHERN IOWA FAIR SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED FOR TONIGHT (7/16)
OSKALOOSA — The Southern Iowa Fair Board and Extension Council announced last night that all events at the Southern Iowa Fair that were scheduled for 5:30pm or later were canceled due to the severe weather. The board released the updated schedule for today (7/16) on their Facebook page.

Knoxville Police Department Reminding Citizens of Yard City Code
The Knoxville Police Department is reminding citizens of city code when it comes to their lawns. City code states that property owners are required to maintain their lawns which includes trimming weeds and tall grass. In developed residential, commercial and industrial zoned areas, weeds and grass must be kept below eight inches in height. For undeveloped residential, commercial and industrial zoned districts, maximum height is 12 inches. If citizens do not abide by this they may receive a $107 fine. The department also is reminding the community to not put furniture or trash out in your yard as the city will have to send a trash service to pick it up and you will be issued a fine.
Neal Smith Hosting Free Bison Day Family Event in August
The Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge is hosting their annual free Bison Day family event on Saturday, August 3rd. During the celebration of bison, everyone is invited to view the bison herd including calves, learn about the tallgrass prairie heritage at the refuge, and participate in bison and prairie themed activities. Activities during the event will include crafts, bison coloring pages, viewing a live hawk and owl display, playing a ring toss game, group photos in the bison photo booth area, and a bison trivia themed self-guided walk on the 1/2 mile Overlook Loop Trail.

New Oak Street Health clinic to open Friday
Oak Street Health plans to open its new clinic on Euclid Avenue on Friday, expanding access to primary health care services to patients in underserved areas of the community. The clinic, at 215 Euclid Ave., is in the former CVS pharmacy near Park Fair Mall on the city’s north side. CVS closed the store in March 2023.

BELLE PLAINE, Iowa (KCRG) - Inside Drahos Shoe Store, on Main Street in Belle Plaine, lives generations of knowledge. “My grandfather was a Shoemaker in Bohemia. In 1904, he immigrated to the US. He was 17 years old. He had $22.60 in his pocket,” says Dan Drahos, the current owner and operator of Drahos Shoe Store.
