Bedford works through rough start to punch first ticket to State Tournament
(Atlantic) -- Bedford baseball continued their magical run Tuesday night by punching the program's first trip to the State Baseball Tournament. The Bulldogs overcame a slow start and leaned on some clutch hitting, stellar pitching and solid defense down the stretch to beat Tri-Center 7-4 in a Class 1A Substate 8 Final.
Sunday was Free Pool Day in Marshalltown
On Sunday the Marshalltown Aquatic Center held a Free Open Swim Day all paid for by Marty Mitchell Funeral Home. This is something Marty Mitchell has done for many year since the tragic drowning of the 4 individuals in the Iowa River. Mitchell pays for the attendance of everyone 1 day per summer, and this year nearly 800 people showed up to the pool.
Ankeny softball quartet, Centennial trio earn IGCA academic all-state honors
Four Ankeny softball players and three from Ankeny Centennial have been named to the academic all-state team by the Iowa Girls’ Coaches Association. The Hawkettes were represented by Marah Hansen, Hannah Howard, Cassie Johnson and Ava Tomlinson. The Jaguars, meanwhile, placed Payton Drefke, Addie Pollock and McKenna Vallejo on the squad.

Carroll Community School District Board Of Education To Hold Special Meeting Adopting New Resolution For Bond Agreement Amount
The Carroll Community School District Board of Education released the agenda for the special meeting to update the resolution for the new proposed transportation facility. After the public hearing during Monday night’s meeting, the board members rejected the proposed resolution to enter into a bond agreement not to exceed $16 million and plan to lower that amount by issuing a new bond agreement. During the special meeting, board members will determine the maximum amount to bond to construct the new structure. Upon deciding that, the board will also schedule a public hearing to allow for input on the new resolution. The only other item on the agenda is considering an engagement letter with Dorsey Whitney LLP, which will serve as the project attorney. This meeting will be held in the Adams Elementary School Board Room starting at 8:15 a.m. The meeting is open to the public and can be attended in person or via Zoom.
