Georgia Man Taken Into Custody After A High-Speed Chase Through Carroll County On Highway 141 Tuesday Evening
A Georgia man was taken into custody following a high-speed pursuit with law enforcement on Highway 141 yesterday (Tuesday) evening. According to the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 4:57 p.m., a Guthrie County Sheriff Deputy clocked a 2020 Toyota Camry, operated by 58-year-old Paul Bolin of Athens, GA, at 83 miles per hour (mph) in western Guthrie County. Bolin passed the fully marked squad car and continued westbound on Highway 141 at a high rate of speed. The deputy began pursuing the Bolin vehicle, reaching speeds of 97 mph. The chase continued for roughly ten minutes, with Bolin driving through the stop sign located at the Highway 71 and 141 intersection, before a successful deployment of stop sticks by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office around Falcon Avenue ended the pursuit. When approached by law enforcement, Bolin identified himself as “God,” and has a .22 caliber pistol in the center console. A criminal history search reported that Bolin has no active no warrants and was not a felony but was disqualified from possessing a firearm. Bolin is charged with control of a firearm by a felon, and eluding both class D felonies, as well as speeding and failure to obey a stop sign. Bolin remains in custody at the Guthrie County Jail on a $5,000 cash bond. The Iowa State Patrol and the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office also assisted in the pursuit.

Resident killed, driver injured after van crashed through Knoxville, Iowa care facility
A van crashed through a Knoxville nursing home facility, leaving one dead and one injured on Monday afternoon. According to an Iowa State Patrol crash report, the accident happened around 3:20 p.m. on Monday, July 15, at Accura HealthCare of Knoxville, a nursing home and assisted living facility with 25 locations across Iowa. The Knoxville location houses 51 residents.

New Oak Street Health clinic to open Friday
