Ward-Beecher planetarium to reopen in October at Youngstown State University
A 2023 fire closed the Ward-Beecher planetarium at Youngstown State University, but after extensive renovation, a grand reopening has been set for the weekend of Oct. 4-5. The renovation included the construction and installation of a new copper roof, dome, carpeting, cove lights and many other improvements as a result of the fire, according to a posting on the YSU website.
Varsity Football – Salem at South Range Ticket Info
On Friday August 30th, Salem Football will travel to South Range High School for a week 2 matchup against the Raiders, with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 pm. Tickets will be sold at the game only – both student and adult tickets will cost $8.00. All parking at the stadium is $5.00. Parking at South Range High School is free.

New Middletown resident faces five felony charges after reported Howland bar fight
Howland police officers were dispatched to Leon’s bar at 111 Niles Cortland Road, about 9:35 p.m. Aug. 17 to find an unconscious man on the ground in the parking lot. It appeared the man, identified as a 58-year-old from New Middletown, had blood on the back of his head, apparently from blunt force trauma, the police report stated.
