Café Maud is Coming to Second Avenue

Rumors have been swirling as to the fate of 132 2nd Ave. Now, What Now NY can confirm that the space once occupied by Dallas BBQ is set to become Café Maud .

Curt Huegel , a hospitality veteran behind Host Restaurants, applied for a liquor license for the space last year. At the time, few other details for the entity were shared.

In a recent job posting on Culinary Agents , Café Maud provides a description of the concept.

“We are thrilled to announce the opening of a dynamic and vibrant new bar/restaurant/cafe in the East Village! Our establishment aims to offer an unforgettable dining and drinking experience that captures the essence of the city’s diverse culinary scene and nightlife.”

On the brand’s Instagram page , it is referred to as a neighborhood cafe & bar.

What Now NY reached out to Huegel for a comment but did not immediately hear back.

EV Grieve reported that new signage went up at the 132 2nd Ave location earlier this week. They also noted that renovations for the space have been ongoing since last year.

Host Restaurants has been busy in New York City and beyond over the past few months. With progress being made on Café Maud, it seems doors to the new restaurant may open soon. No specific date has been confirmed at this time.
