The future of Kaapo Kakko with the New York Rangers isn’t looking too bright.

ESPN’s Emily Kaplan reported that the Rangers have had conversations with other teams about trading Kakko.

The New York Post’s Larry Brooks also put out that the Rangers have been aggressively shopping the 2019 second overall pick.

Kakko signed his one-year $2.4 million qualifying offer with the Rangers a couple weeks ago, but the option to move the young forward is still very much on the table.

This past season, the 23-year-old had 13 goals, six assists and 19 points while averaging 13:16 minutes of ice time.

It’s a very real possibility that Kakko gets traded during the NHL Draft or at the very least before the Free Agent Frenzy which is set to begin on July 1.
