Mitchell Robinson reacts to Sixers' Joel Embiid grabbing his leg

During the Round 1 series between the Philadelphia 76ers and the New York Knicks back in April, Sixers star Joel Embiid and Knicks big man Mitchell Robinson got tangled up underneath the basket.

The result was Embiid pulled on Robinson’s leg while he was in the air and one could argue that the big fella should have been ejected with a flagrant-2 foul. Instead, Embiid was hit with a flagrant-1 and he then scored a playoff career-high 50 points to lead the Sixers to a Game 3 win.

Robinson recently broke his silence on Embiid pulling on his leg on “The Roommates Show with Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart”:

I keep seeing the video over and over and I’m like ‘Alright bro. Like, come on now’, but like I mean, it wasn’t that serious. I mean he didn’t have to grab my leg.

Robinson was then asked that if it was a player besides Embiid, does he think that player would be ejected:

For sure. If I did it’s I would have been out and suspended…I would have been out of there.

Obviously, this is a Knicks-centric podcast. It’s hosted by Brunson and Hart and they’re Robinson’s teammates so this would be a time for him to give his perspective on what happened with Embiid.

Embiid explained the play afterward saying he meant no harm to Robinson. He just had some bad visions of what happened with Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga when he fell on his knee. He didn’t want Robinson to do the same as he was just trying to protect himself.
