The Indiana Fever and New York Liberty will play each other on Saturday for the fourth team this season. New York is 3-0 against Indiana and will go for a sweep of the season series.
None of the first three games between Indiana and New York this season has been very close. The Liberty defeated the Fever 102-66 in their first meeting, 91-80 in their second meeting and 104-68 in their most recent battle. While these numbers do not look great for Indiana, the Fever have been playing better of late and will enter this game against New York in improved form.
Ahead of this Eastern Conference contest, New York provided an injury update. Injured center Nyara Sabally went through a complete shootaround with the team for the first time since her back injury.
Sabally has not played since May 31 and has appeared in just eight games for the Liberty this season. Drafted fifth in the 2022 WNBA draft, Sabally has potential that has yet to fully show itself at the WNBA level.
The second-tallest player on New York's roster, the 6-foot-5 Sabally gives her team some important size on both ends of the court. Despite limited playing time this season, Sabally has shown impressive defensive flashes, averaging 3.1 rebounds per game in just 11.6 minutes per game.
It seems possible Sabally could be trending toward a return for Saturday's game against the Fever; both teams have two days off before that matchup. Having been a full participant in her team's latest shootaround, Sabally is getting close to a return, and perhaps it will come on the big stage against Caitlin Clark and the Fever.
