    Staten Island swimmer reported missing found at home: NYPD

    STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (PIX11) — A swimmer who was reported missing at a Staten Island beach on the Fourth of July was found at her home, police said Friday.

    Authorities said the woman, 49, was believed to be in the water at South Beach near Father Capodanno Boulevard at around 5:40 p.m. Divers and NYPD aviation units searched for the woman before realizing it was a false alarm, police said.

    The woman had left the beach and was later found at her home, according to the NYPD.

    Last month, two teenage boys drowned matter they were reported missing in the water at Jacob Riis Park beach in Queens. The boys went swimming on June 21 and their bodies were found off Rockaway Beach over the weekend, according to the medical examiner’s office.
