Restaurant Week—which is much longer than a week—happens twice yearly, and 2024’s summer edition runs from July 22 to August 18. This time, over 500 restaurants will be offering two-course lunches and three-course dinners, at $30, $45, and $60. As the number of participating spots suggests, it really is a grab bag. To help you sort through the list, we’ve selected our top picks.

Power lunch (or dinner) like Lincoln at New York’s oldest steakhouse. In addition to a collection of classic steakhouse appetizers and desserts, this FiDi institution is selling steak frites with a 12 oz "Eye of Delmonico" cut, and their signature ribeye for an additional $23. The menu has non-steak options too, in case you want some salmon or a chicken dish named after a Wall Street broker.
Think of Restaurant Week as an opportunity to take an afternoon off, and get a two-course lunch under the 22-foot-tall ceilings at Union Square Cafe. Entrees include chicken kiev and fettuccine al limone, but the correct order is the burger, with its thick patty and poppy seed bun.
If you’d like a big ol' steak without spending several hundred dollars, try lunch at this Times Square staple that’s been dry-aging meat in lockers since it opened in 1927. Put on your finest steakhouse attire, leave work early—do not return—and prioritize the creamed spinach and a porterhouse, if available. Afterwards, catch a matinee.
The Deal: $60 Dinner
With its caviar, rabbit, and wagyu filet, the menu at this West Village American restaurant isn’t concerned with whether you can pay rent. So a $60 meal is exactly the sort of thing you should be taking advantage of. If you’ve been curious about the Art Deco dining room and burger slathered with fromage d'affinois, now’s the time.
Marcus Samuelsson’s Chelsea spot is embracing summer wholeheartedly with corn, tomato, and watermelon all over the menu. Though they’re technically a Swedish and Ethiopian restaurant (order the “Swediopian” berbere-cured salmon appetizer to get a sense of what that means), the seafood dishes are inspired from all over.
For excellent Thai food below 14th Street, make a reservation at Fish Cheeks, home to some of the most luxurious coconut crab curry in the five boroughs. It's a good place to bring a friend who you’ve been meaning to catch up with, or better yet, come alone and have all the hunks of tender crab to yourself. And if the zabb wings are available, get those too.
There are two distinct types of Coney Island days to have. You can sit on the beach, ride The Cyclone, and eat some very famous hot dogs, or you can button yourself up and watch as waiters in red tuxedos deliver you pasta at Gargiulo’s. We always go for the baked clams and calamari racanati when we come here. Just make sure you aren’t wearing flip-flops—Gargiulo’s has a dress code.
The Deal: $30 Lunch, $45 Dinner
Eavesdropping at Manhattan's most ancient tavern is a good way to spend a random Wednesday. The Gramercy spot has a big sidewalk seating area and burgers topped with fried onions and O. Henry sauce. For an extra $6, you can get steak frites with blue cheese butter, which feels like a worthy use of funds to us.
Beloved West Village restaurant Silver Apricot is closing this August. Before the narrow Chinese American spot shuts its doors, head over for delicate small plates of things like scallion puffs, deviled tea eggs, or sweet-and-sour snapper with roasted pineapple. Everything pairs well with their fairly extensive selection of wine, helpfully divided into sections like “Orange-Ish for Newbies” and “Dark & Brooding.”
You should be eating more Levantine food in Bay Ridge. If it’s been awhile since you and some friends visited this chandelier-lit, Palestinian American-run restaurant, their lunch or dinner deals are the perfect excuse to go back. The Restaurant Week menu isn't online yet, but everything here—particularly the creamy dips, musakhan loaded with caramelized onions, and of course their unforgettable knafeh—is delicious.
