MIDTOWN, Manhattan (PIX11) — What’s black and white with food all over? Panda Day at this year’s Dragon Fest in New York City.

The “panda-monium” kicks off at 10 a.m. on Sunday and will span Seventh Avenue from 56th to 57th streets in Manhattan. It’s all part of the largest celebration of Chinese culture known as Dragon Fest.

The free event will mark the festival’s first celebration of Panda Day, inspired by Chengdu, China. The city is home to the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, a sanctuary for giant pandas, red pandas, and other endangered wild animals exclusive to China, according to its website.

While visitors may not get to see real pandas here in New York City, Panda Day will feature tons of balloons and foods shaped like the cuddly bamboo eater. If you want to see real pandas, there will be chances throughout the event to win a free trip to China.
