NY Liberty Reveal Crucial Injury News For Key Player

New York Liberty starter Betnijah Laney-Hamilton has officially been ruled out for 4–6 weeks after undergoing a minor procedure to her right knee. Laney-Hamilton will miss her fourth straight game on Tuesday as the Liberty host the Connecticut Sun at 7 p.m. ET.

While New York will be missing one of its main contributors, they'll soon head into the WNBA break, giving players a chance to rest and recover during the 2024 Olympic Games.

The Liberty's match against the Sun marks their final game before the WNBA All-Star break. They will be back on the hardwood on August 15 against the Los Angeles Sparks.

Laney-Hamilton has been one of the most efficient players on New York's roster this season. The 30-year-old has shot 46.9% from the field and 38% from three-point range, averaging 12.7 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.

Laney-Hamilton's absence is a tough blow for the current No. 1 team in the WNBA standings, but her timeline is in line with the midseason break.

Her teammates, Sabrina Ionescu and Breanna Stewart, are headed to Paris, France, for the Summer Olympics. While the WNBA awaits the end of the Olympics to resume the season, Laney-Hamilton will have a chance to make progress in her recovery.
