The New York Knicks are championship contenders now and into the foreseeable future.

On ESPN's "NBA Today," analyst and former NBA center Kendrick Perkins said he believes the Knicks' championship window will be open for 3-4 years.

"You look at Jalen Brunson, Donte [DiVincenzo], and Mikal Bridges, all of them are 27 years of age," Perkins said. "So, they're just scratching the surface of their prime. OG Anunoby is 26 [Anunoby turned 27 on Wednesday], Josh Hart is 29, Julius Randle is 29. The core of this group are still either knocking on the door of their prime or right in the middle of their prime. So, they have a 3-4 year window."

Perkins also noted that Brunson's discount extension has opened up flexibility for the Knicks, either by trade or free agency, to continue adding to the roster.

If the Knicks do not hand out any more extensions, the core of Brunson, DiVincenzo, Bridges, Hart, Anunoby, Randle, and Mitchell Robinson are all under contract until the summer of 2026.

That gives the Knicks two years with this group (assuming Randle opts into a contract option for 2025-26). Brunson, DiVincenzo, Hart, and Anunoby are all under contract through 2026-27.

And of course, the Knicks will look into extensions for Bridges and Randle. Bridges is reportedly weighing taking a team-friendly deal like Brunson, potentially setting a new trend on the Knicks. Randle's extension figures to be a bit trickier, as the high-scoring forward is a bit of an awkward fit with this current Knicks roster, but nonetheless likely worthy of a max contract.

Brunson sacrificed a potential $113 million to help the Knicks build. Rest assured, the Knicks will explore all avenues to extend this competitive window, perhaps even longer than 3-4 years.
