HOUGHTON, NY — Lack of offense caused the Oilers to lose the final game of the regular season 7-1 to the Rapids.

Tim Beimel started his first game of the season on the mound for the Oilers. Beimel pitched three innings and allowed three runs off one hit and six walks. The loss is his only one in four appearances this season.

Joe Long pitched the next three innings, keeping the Oilers close while allowing only one run.

The Oilers' only run of the game came in the first inning when second baseman Cooper Rossano hit an RBI single, bringing third baseman Bryce Rudisill home.

Losing the last two games of the season, the Oilers dropped to fourth place in the Western Division of the New York Collegiate Baseball League. The top two teams in the division get a first-round bye, meaning that the Oilers will host the fifth-place Salamanca Lizards in a single elimination game.

The Oilers will host the Lizards on Monday. The first pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
