    Boy, 14, arrested in brutal bat attack on woman, 58, in Lower Manhattan

    NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — The NYPD arrested a teen boy on Tuesday in the brutal bat attack on a woman in Lower Manhattan last month, authorities said.

    The 14-year-old boy, whose name wasn't released due to his age, was charged with assault and assault with Intent to cause serious physical injury.

    Just after 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25, police said a 58-year-old woman was walking in front of 37 Monroe St. in Two Bridges, when the two suspects approached and began to strike her multiple times with a bat.

    The suspects then fled the location on foot, traveling eastbound on Madison Street.

    The victim sustained injuries to her leg and swelling to her head. EMS transported her to New York-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital in stable condition.
