NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A moped rider bumped into a man while driving on a sidewalk in Hell’s Kitchen—then punched him and another man unconscious when they called him out, police said Wednesday as one of the victims fought for his life at a hospital.

The NYPD released images of the suspect wanted in Tuesday morning’s vicious assault at West 44th Street and Ninth Avenue.

One of the victims, a 56-year-old man, was standing on the sidewalk around 2:40 a.m. when the suspect rode past and bumped him with the moped, police said.

That led to a dispute between the two of them, during which the moped rider punched the man in the face, knocking him unconscious, according to cops.

When the victim’s 38-year-old friend tried to intervene, the attacker punched him in the face and knocked him out too, police said.

The suspect fled on the moped, leaving both victims unconscious at the scene.

The 38-year-old was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, where he was in critical condition.

The 56-year-old was taken to Mount Sinai West in stable condition.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
