NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A woman was punched in the face in a suspected anti-Asian attack on a subway train in Midtown Manhattan, police said Friday as they released video of a suspect.

The 28-year-old victim was riding a northbound Q train near the 57th Street–Seventh Avenue station around 8:10 p.m. last Wednesday when another woman, believed to be in her 30s, picked a fight with her, according to cops.

During the exchange, the mystery woman made anti-Asian remarks and punched the victim in the face with a closed fist, police said. She then fled the train.

The victim declined further medical attention at the scene.

The NYPD's Hate Crime Task Force is investigating the assault.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
