Ryan Lindgren And Rangers Reportedly Far Off On Contract With Arbitration Looming

The New York Rangers arbitration hearing with Ryan Lindgren is set to take place on Friday, as there is still a lot to sort out.

The two sides are reportedly very far off on a deal.

“It is believed that the club is looking for a shorter-term deal in the length of two-to-three seasons while the 26-year-old Lindgren is seeking a deal for four or five seasons,” The New York Post’s Larry Brooks wrote. “It is also believed that the Blueshirts are offering between $4 million and $4.25 million per year while No. 55 is seeking up to $5M per.”

There have been negotiations between Lindgren and the Rangers all summer, but little progress has been made, likely leading to an arbitration hearing.

However, Brooks reports that it’s possible Lindgren and New York reach an agreement on a one-year contract ahead of arbitration.

This would mean the two sides can resume negotiations for a long-term deal on Jan. 1 due to the collective bargaining agreement.

It’s almost a certainty that Lindgren remains in New York. The big question is what his upcoming contract will ultimately look like?

This past season the 26-year-old defenseman had three goals, 14 assists and 17 points in 76 games.
