Chloe is a vegan all-day café with a Woodstock-adjacent, shiitake bacon ethos and a boho chic dining room channeling Anthropologie. It's casual, welcoming, and great for anyone who wants an elaborate veggie burger or a quinoa taco salad heavily drizzled with green goddess dressing—and, if you find yourself at this Greenwich Village counter-service spot, that’s all you really need to know.

But if you’d like a bit of background, the chef opened a near-identical place called By Chloe in 2015, before exiting the company a few years later. So this is technically a comeback, which makes the experience even more wholesome. This time around, there’s natural wine, which you can enjoy at one of the dozen or so tables spread throughout the room, where you'll also see fiddle leaf fig trees, purely decorative mandarin oranges, and bottles of wild rose vinegar for sale.

Hot Italian
The presentation is awkward—similar to a lobster roll on a split-top bun—but don’t let that stop you from ordering this faux-meatball sandwich. Smothered in pesto, cashew mozzarella, and hot cherry tomato jam, it’s a great, sloppy time.

Quinoa Taco Salad
This salad has a fan club. We aren’t members. It definitely isn’t bad, but the bowl of accessorized romaine is working with a pretty broad and generic interpretation of the word “taco,” and, like most salads here, the dressing is heavy.

Desserts
Skip the matcha soft serve, and get a cookie instead. Our pick is the rocky road one, which happens to be gluten free.
