Could Knicks Target Robert Williams III?

Isaiah Hartenstein played a huge role in the New York Knicks finishing with the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference this past season. Now that he has moved on to the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Knicks could be in the market for another big man.

In a recent article by The Athletic , Fred Katz and John Hollinger have a talk about the Knicks. One of the topics they go over is who the team should target to fill the hole left behind by Hartenstein, and one of the players that could fit well is Portland Trail Blazers center Robert Williams III.

The main concern with him is the fact that he has not been able to stay on the court so far in his career. This past season, he only played in six games before he was sidelined with a knee injury for the rest of the year.

But when he is on the court, he makes his impact felt. The most games he has played in a season is 61 back in 2021-22 season, and his stats show just how good he could be. He averaged 10 points, just under 10 rebounds, and added two blocks per game to that as well.

If the Knicks were to make a move for Williams at the deadline, it would only be because he proved in the first half of the year that he could stay on the court. If he does that, Williams could be a perfect fit for the defensive-minded scheme of the Knicks.
