Tommy Hilfiger will return to New York Fashion Week for his spring 2025 show on Sept. 8 at 6:30 p.m. His show will take place aboard the MV John F. Kennedy, a decommissioned and now permanently docked ferry, which operated at the Staten Island Ferry for decades.

Originally, Hilfiger was not on the official CFDA schedule that was released last week. NYFW runs Sept. 6 through 11.

“New York City is the birthplace of the American dream, and the Staten Island Ferry represents the gateway to self-expression for so many across history,” said Tommy Hilfiger . “By hosting this year’s show aboard the MV John F. Kennedy, a recently decommissioned ferry, we will celebrate the quintessential New York City landmark, while writing our nautical-inspired codes firmly into the vessel’s iconic legacy,” he said.

The MV John F. Kennedy ferry purchased by Pete Davidson and Colin Jost.

Last February, Hilfiger returned to NYFW with a much-ballyhooed show at Grand Central’s Oyster Bar , a New York institution. The show featured Questlove as his DJ and Jon Batiste during the finale. He turned the restaurant into “The Tommy” club for the night, dubbing his show, “A New York Moment.” The previous time he had a fashion show during NYFW was in September 2022 when he created the “Tommy Factory” during a rain-soaked night at Brooklyn’s Skyline Drive-in.

The ferry, named after John F. Kennedy, shuttled commuters between the New York City boroughs of Manhattan and Staten Island from 1965 until August 2021. Following the ferry’s retirement, it was moored at St. George Terminal until its fate was determined. At an auction that was concluded on Jan. 19, 2022, the ferry sold “as is” and “where is” to Paul Italia, Ron Costellano and Staten Island natives Colin Jost and Pete Davidson for $280,000. The new owners planned to convert the ferry into an entertainment venue with a budget of $34 million, according to published reports.

According to Hilfiger’s firm, the ferry, with its original interiors still intact, “will become the perfect stage.” The company said the show marks a farewell to the ferry’s past role, while celebrating its upcoming transformation into a comedy club and future icon of the city, “blending nostalgia with contemporary fashion under the new ownership of Pete Davidson and Colin Jost.”

Hilfiger’s show will once again align with the traditional fashion calendar, and is no longer see now, buy now, which Hilfiger did for several years.

As reported, the preliminary official NYFW schedule features more than 60 confirmed runway shows and designer presentations, with additional collections being presented digitally and by appointment.

Among those showing during NYFW are Michael Kors, Tory Burch, Carolina Herrera, Khaite, Jason Wu, Sergio Hudson, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Brandon Maxwell, and LaQuan Smith.

Ralph Lauren will present his spring fashion show in East Hampton, N.Y., on Sept. 5 and Proenza Schouler will be showing on Sept. 4, as reported.

Also showing on Hilfiger’s date — Sept. 8 — are Ulla Johnson, PHS, Off-White, Jason Wu Collection, Sandy Liang, Bach Mai, 3.1 Phillip Lim, and Eckhaus Latta.
