The first four episodes of the Giants’ appearance on HBO’s docuseries “Hard Knocks” have offered a window into the team’s ultimate selection of wide receiver Malik Nabers with the sixth-overall selection in the draft.

GM Joe Schoen and coach Brian Daboll clearly dug deep into the former LSU star’s reputation for being hot-tempered, and they came away satisfied with his answers after asking him point blank how he’d handle certain situations, such as not getting the ball.

Asked before Wednesday’s first practice of training camp whether he’s concerned about Nabers’ “temper on the field and personality off the field,” Daboll laughed and replied, “I don’t have any concerns with Leak.

“I like his mindset. He has a lot to learn, he’s a rookie. But he’s gonna work hard, and he did a really good job in the spring.

“Love him as a person, love his competitive fire. Glad he’s on our football team.”

Wide receivers coach Mike Groh stated during a conversation with team owner John Mara during Tuesday night’s “Hard Knocks” episode that he wanted Nabers over fellow wide receivers Marvin Harrison Jr. and Rome Odunze, who went fourth and ninth in the draft, respectively.

As for his first training camp practice, the 20-year-old Nabers wasn’t perfect.

A few groans and gasps could be heard from the fans in attendance when the rookie dropped a pass down the sideline from returning quarterback Daniel Jones.

He also lined up in the backfield a few times and had a nice run on an end-around.

“We spent some good time this summer together,” Jones said of Nabers. “I think it’s the first day, and he made some plays. … He’ll be big-time for us .

“He’s played well for us, played well in the spring. It’s been good to be with him this summer, and I’m sure he’ll have a good camp. We’ll continue to grow and build chemistry the more time we’re out there together.”

Sixth-year veteran wide receiver Darius Slayton said his best advice to Nabers is to maintain his perspective after both good and bad plays.

“He’s really talented , he’s gonna be a good player, but sometimes things don’t go your way,” Slayton said. “Maybe you don’t play the way you want to play as early as you want to play, maybe you slip on a route or drop a ball, whatever it may be.

“At the end of the day, it’s Day 1 of camp. He has time. That’s a really hard thing to think as a rookie because you feel like every day it’s the end of the world if you don’t play well. In reality, you have time. The season’s a month away, you have preseason games. As long as you’re a good player, you’ll be good.”
