    Was it worth it?

The Giants and Lions have each been fined $200,000 for the series of fights that transpired during the joint practices held Monday and Tuesday at the Giants training camp facility.

The NFL, in confirming these fines, indicated in a memo distributed to teams last month that “fighting and unprofessional conduct at joint practices would not be tolerated.’’

Jets can’t succumb to NFL’s joint-practice fighting problem

There were plenty of fisticuffs as the two teams got after it in the sweltering heat, with Monday’s session punctuated by several bench-clearing altercations .

The Giants young defensive backs, rookie Dru Phillips and third-year Dane Belton, got into scrapes with Lions receivers Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams.

Cornerback Nick McCloud got into it with left tackle Penei Sewell.

Giants quarterback Daniel Jones even got into the action, shoving Lions defensive lineman Kyle Peko during a scrum.

Prior to Tuesday’s practice, Giants head coach Brian Daboll issued an edict to his team that no one was to come off the sideline to exacerbate the situation if a fight erupted on the field.

Lions coach Dan Campbell issued a similar warning to his team.

That calmed things down — slightly.

There still was a brief brawl between Malik Nabers, the Giants rookie sensation wide receiver, and safety Kerby Joseph, instigated when Joseph jawed at Nabers and threw the first punch.

Morice Norris, a rookie cornerback on the Lions, took swings at Giants receiver Gunner Olszewski, who did not retaliate.
