It doesn’t sound like CeeDee Lamb shares in Jerry Jones’ sense of optimism that the Cowboys are close to resolving his holdout.

After the Cowboys owner said earlier this week that there have been “promising talks” to indicate they could “come together” on a new contract with the NFL’s leader in catches last season, Lamb responded in a workout video.

“Still waiting on that phone call,” Lamb said, “but, until then, we grind.”

Lamb skipped the entire voluntary offseason program, mandatory OTAs and all of training camp as a negotiating ploy to get an extension, accumulating seven figures in fines.

He is under a one-year, $17.9 million contract on the fifth-year option.

“Control what I can control,” Lamb said, “and that’s to be the best version of me.”

The Cowboys reportedly offered to make Lamb the second-highest paid receiver in the NFL at just under $33 million per season.

The amount of guaranteed money and the front-end payout distribution are unknown factors that figure heavily into most negotiations.

“We wouldn’t have offered him what we offered him,” Jones said, “if we didn’t want him to be here.”

The Cowboys open the season on Sept. 8 against the Browns, so time is running out to get a deal done.

Lamb is subject to additional fines of almost $1 million per regular-season game that he misses.

The Cowboys are supposed to be “all-in” this season, especially since it could be quarterback Dak Prescott’s final run before he tests free agency.

Prescott’s contract negotiations – as well as the coming talks for stud linebacker Micah Parsons – are all key items on the agenda for America’s Team.

Lamb set single-season franchise records with 135 catches for 1,749 yards last season.

The five-highest paid receivers in the NFL – Justin Jefferson (Vikings), A.J. Brown (Eagles), Amon-Ra St. Brown (Lions), Tyreek Hill (Dolphins)  and Jaylen Waddle (Dolphins) – all received new or modified contracts this season.
