An Oregon nurse who vanished days after she returned home from her Hawaii wedding was found dead Saturday amid a 3-day search as police accused her 27-year-old neighbor of murder.

Melissa Jubane, 32, a cardiac nurse at St. Vincent Hospital in Southwest Portland, raised concerns with her friends and family when she didn’t show up for her morning shift on Sept. 4, Beaverton Police said.

Police received a call requesting a welfare check for Jubane at her apartment, where responding officers were met by apartment complex staff and conducted a search for the missing nurse.

Officers found no signs of the newlywed inside the apartment in Beaverton’s Five Oaks neighborhood.

Jubane had married her husband Bryan Llantero in Haleʻiwa, O’ahu on the island of Honolulu on Aug. 24.

Llantero last heard from his wife around 6 a.m. on the morning she did not report to the hospital, according to KHON .

“Efforts by officers and family members to contact Melissa throughout the day were unsuccessful, as her phone appeared to be turned off,” the department said in a Facebook post. “Additionally, searches of Melissa’s bank and credit card records yielded no new information regarding her location.”

“Her absence without communication was deemed unusual and alarming,” the department added.

With no leads to Jubane’s whereabouts, she was listed as a missing person just after 3 p.m. on Sept. 4.

Police discovered Jubane’s remains Friday evening, over two days after police conducted the wellness check and reported her missing.

“As a result of an extensive investigation, it was determined that one of Melissa’s neighbors, 27-year-old Bryce Johnathan Schubert of Beaverton was involved in her disappearance,” police said Saturday morning.

Schubert, 27, was arrested Friday evening and charged with second-degree murder, according to jail records viewed by The Post.

Schubert worked as a nurse at Providence Portland Medical Center from September 2022 to October 2023, according to Fox 12 .
