Jacob Trouba: Earning the Rangers “C”
The New York Rangers have a long-standing history of being one of the “Original Six” teams forming the early NHL. In the time since the inaugural 126-27 season, there have been many players who’ve worn the Broadway Blueshirt sweater but on 27 players honored to have worn the captain’s “C” on the front of their sweater.
Rangers inking contracts for 2022-23 season
The lull in hockey action on the ice from the end of the Stanley Cup playoffs to the beginning of another season’s training camp doesn’t mean that there’s lots of behind-the-scenes events going on in NHL front office spaces. The New York Rangers have been busy trying to reload player personnel for the upcoming 2022-23 run to win Lord Stanley’s trophy this off season. Rangers President and GM Chris Drury has been very busy finishing off player contracts in anticipation for the start of training camp next month.
Top 5 Baseball Managers in the MLB Today
When it comes to coaching and managing a baseball team, especially in world-class leagues such as the MLB, it’s not as easy as you think. Apart from having a long season comprising hundred-plus games, it drains physically and mentally to any manager to successfully bring the team to their goal and win the series.
Zuerlein wins Jets K Competition
Despite the chaos and uncertainty for the New York Jets leading up to the September 11th season start against the Baltimore Ravens, one roster spot is now decided and that should be good news for the Jets and their fans -I hope. There are pessimists and optimists but I’m going to hold out and be a optimistically pessimist or a pessimistically optimist on this roster selection and have the wait-and-see response.
Rangers top prospects for 2022-23
Can you just feel the coolness of the ice and long for the sound of a slap shot? Well, if you’re like me, it’s only a matter of time before the Rangers are back on the ice and the 2022-23 NHL season begins. Maybe it’s a coping mechanism from the summer heat, but I start watching for small hints of foliage changes as a reminder that hockey season is just around the corner.
Chris Streveler Shines Again In Preseason, Makes Case For Depth Chart
The Jets remain undefeated in the preseason after their 24-16 victory over the Falcons. Streveler, once again, looked composed and capable. Chris Streveler has gotten the vast majority of the reps in the preseason for the Jets and has had a good amount of success. While it’s still clear that Joe Flacco will take over the reins while Zach Wilson is out for potentially the first couple of weeks of the regular season, Streveler being in a depth chart can be a sign of relief.
Perhaps the Giants Deepest Position Group, is also there Most Interesting
The Giants are heading into 2022 with a number of position groups that aren’t very good in terms of depth. One position group that may just be there deepest, is the wide receivers. The Giants have invested a lot into the receiver group in recent years, and how those investments have turned out have raised some serious questions. The names that aren’t quite as known are also making some noise in training camp and the preseason. With rosters slowly trimming down week by week, it will be fascinating to see how this receiver group shakes out.
The 2022 Mets: A New Feeling To Embrace
There is inherently a lot of “doom and gloom” anxiety that flows through the blood of many Mets fans. This is understandable given what they have experienced dating back to the 2000 season. The “run of pain” included a World Series defeat by the Yankees, a gut-wrenching National...
Jets: Ready for Preseason Week Two
Maybe it’s wishful thinking, maybe it’s all part of the plan but the 2022 New York Jets don’t resemble their 2021 predecessors and these changes are evident this week. The Jets held combined practices with the Atlanta Falcons in preparation for their Monday night preseason game and the Jets did not look like the Jets from last year.
Disapointing Draw Leaves Red Bulls With Little To Celebrate
The New York Red Bulls can’t take much from the 1-1 result against FC Cincinnati on Saturday night. A single point and only two shots on frame left the Bulls with little to show in the post game. Head coach Gerhard Struber said just as much in his opening statements to the media corps following the result.
Zach Wilson Continues To Make Steady Progress – Week 1 Not Likely, But Possible
After a successful surgery, Zach Wilson is already making promising physical progress on his right knee. He has been seen walking around the New York Jets facility with no support after no additional damage was found in his meniscus after the arthroscopic procedure. While a Week 1 start against the...
Red Bulls Win Over Atlanta, Struggle With Control Late
The New York Red Bulls win over Atlanta United FC last night was cathartic. The two-fold benefit of adding three points and almost certainly dashing United’s playoff hopes is something fans can take some solace in. But after the two first half goals from Lewis Morgan and John Tolkin something stood out. It was the same thing that seemingly kept Atlanta alive during the match.
Can Aaron Judge Break the Clean Home Run Record?
Before the start of the MLB season, Brian Cashman and the Yankees offered Aaron Judge a seven-year contract extension worth $230 million. Judge turned the deal down, and many at the time questioned his decision. How could you turn down that much money?. Judge has answered that question with a...
Settle Down on Jimmy Garoppolo to The Jets
When Zach Wilson’s non-contact injury on his right knee was a bone bruise and torn meniscus that would put him out 2-4 weeks, the typical Jets hopelessness caught up to everyone. It was all the typical stuff to expect: that there’s already reason to believe that the Jets should...
Following the Giants 1st Preseason Game, 1 Position Group Thrived, While the Other did the Opposite
The Giants are now 5 days removed from their first preseason game. Since that game, the Giants have had to deal with injuries hitting them hard. The hope is that none of them are serious, and the Giants will likely bring in more bodies once most teams cut their rosters down to 85 by the end of the day. One position group that hasn’t been affected by the injury bug (knock on wood), is the running back room, and boy did they over perform expectations last Thursday.
NY Giants’ Ben Bredeson: Smart, Tough, Dependable, and Versatile
One preseason game in the books. The offensive line took some positive steps forward against the Patriots. But one lineman, Ben Bredeson, took advantage of his opportunity to show he can play guard and center at a credible level. In 2020 Ben Bredeson, 6’5″ and 315 lbs, was drafted by...
Preseason Game One: Where are the Jets Heading?
Well, it’s official – the 2022 NFL season is off and running and for the Jets, the usual story line doesn’t start off with a win in this week’s first preseason game but with injuries. Two steps forward, three steps back was the mantra for 2021 and I truly hope it’s not more of the same for this year.
Jets Sign Tackle Duane Brown to Two Year Contract
Ladies and gentlemen, insurance has entered the building. The New York Jets have signed veteran offensive tackle Duane Brown from the Seattle Seahawks to a two-year, 22 million dollar contract. Brown, a first-round pick by the Houston Texans out of Virginia Tech, has made five pro bowls since entering the league in 2008.
Get Ready for Giants vs. Patriots with their 2017 Preseason Shootout
Ladies and Gentleman, football is back. Now, I know some people don’t like preseason football, but if you opened up this blog and decided to read it, I imagine you will be watching. Preseason football is for the true die hards, and tomorrow, we get to see the position battles we have been reading about all spring and summer come to life. Even for those who just want to see starters play, you’ll at least get to see them take some snaps according to Brian Daboll. In order to get ready for this one, let’s take a look back at the Giants vs. Patriots 2017 preseason finale.
Mekhi Becton Likely Out For Season With Kneecap Injury – Duane Brown Potential Replacement
Jets offensive tackle Mekhi Becton has suffered an avulsion fracture in his right kneecap – his knee was known to be injured days prior, but an MRI revealed the injury to be much more severe than the Jets coach staff initially expected or anticipated. Additional testing will be done...
