    Roundup: Newark Catholic boys golf goes low to win at Cumberland Trail

    The Newark Catholic boys golf team put three players in the 70s on Monday at Cumberland Trail to roll to the team championship during Watkins Memorial's Warrior Invitational.

    Brogan Sullivan fired a 72 to take runner-up individually. Following right behind were Bobby Kieber in third at 73 and Carter Hahn tied for sixth at 75 as the Green Wave totaled 304, six strokes better than runner-up Pickerington North.

    Liberty Christian's M.J. Glenn added a 78, Johnstown's Will Taylor 79, Watkins' Christian Cave 80 and Kaden Ross 83 and NC's Alex Nagel 84 to lead Licking County competitors.

    GIRLS GOLF

    Czuckowitz leads Heights

    Kayla Czuckowitz shot 48 for Licking Heights at Willow Run in a loss to Circleville 212-223.

    GIRLS TENNIS

    Newark sweeps

    Maria Arnold's victory at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-2, led Newark to a 5-0 victory at Central Crossing.

    Lydia Sears, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 2 and Julia Fitterer, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 3 also won singles matches for the Wildcats (1-0). Aleigha Fraizer and Delaney Farber, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 1 and Analeigh Roy and Bella Sherman, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2 won doubles matches.

    Watkins nips Gahanna

    Nora Grennan, 6-4, 1-6, 6-4, at No. 1 and Payton Zerkle, 6-3, 3-6, 6-0, at No. 3 each went the distance to secure singles victories for Watkins Memorial to lift the Warriors to a 3-2 victory at Gahanna.

    Kaiya Minier added a win at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-4, for the Warriors (1-0).
